National Career Awareness Week
Jamaica observes National Career Awareness Week, typically in February, organized by the Ministry of Education, Skills, Youth and Information in collaboration with HEART/NSTA Trust, Junior Achievement Jamaica, and CHOICES. The week-long event aims to empower students to make informed career choices and develop skills for future success. Activities include school displays, career talks, workshops, and a career expo, with a focus on STEAM-related careers and emerging global job trends. The HEART/NSTA Trust Youth Career Conference is a highlight, featuring presentations from growth sectors such as ICT, agriculture, sports, and entertainment, providing students with practical insights into career pathways, (National Career Awareness Week Slated for February 9-14 – Jamaica Information Service, 2023).
Career Day 2026 was held in partnership with the HEART/NSTA Trust where display booths were setup with valuable information showcased and given the areas of Electrical Installation, Commis Chef, Welding, Farming, Robotics, Digital Construction, Fashion and designing and Housekeeping. The event was broadcast over the radio waves by Fire 105 Fm radio station where an exclusive interview by one of our, Electrical Installation student speaking on his vision to become a Certified Electrician. This interview can be found below. One of the major events to conclude the day was a Fashion Show hosted by the HEART/NSTA Trust Fashion Designer. It was indeed an vibrant and educative day for both staff and students.
